Job Description

Essential Functions:
Responsible for the safe operation of the vessel and well-being of all on board
Manage and direct vessel and crew
Ensure vessel and crew adhere to all safety and flag requirements
Plan and prioritize work for the deck department with the highest regard for safety
Is the primary point of contact for onboard client rep
Manage daily reports to shore-side team
Participate in weekly calls with shore-side operations team

Minimum Requirements:
Must have a US passport
Minimum 5yrs experience as Master on research vessels/OSV's
DP Certification
Ability to operate a vessel without DP
Experience with survey, launch/recovery of equipment, heavy weather, and ship handling
License Requirements - USCG Oceans Unlimited
STCW Certification
Understands and support the SMS
Results-oriented, self-starter with a high level of initiative
Strong ability to organize and communicate with others
Strong work ethics, values, and principles with safety the priority
