Job Description
The 3rd Assistant Engineer operates and maintains the marine boiler and mechanical equipment, such as, heaters, motors and pumps, in order to provide power and utilities like propulsion, light, heat and power to the vessel.
Education:
HS Diploma or Equivalent Required
Bachelors Degree Preferred
Professional Certification(s) or License:
Depending on vessel assignment, a USCG License as a 3rd Assistant Engineer of Steam Vessels of 3000 HP may be required
Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) – if applicable, and/or ability to obtain and maintain
Valid MMC
Valid Driver’s License
Copy of DD214, if Veteran status
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a pleasant and professional manner
Proficiency with MS Office applications
Ability to train and supervise employees
Ability to use independent judgment and discretion
Ability to work well under pressure and handle emergency response
Logically and independently plan, organize and complete work assignments
Experience:
Two years of experience in position with similar duties and responsibilities
Cruise industry experience preferred
