Job Description
Your responsibilities as a Marine Acoustic Technician:
- Maintenance and upkeep of all environmental acoustic equipment
- The production and quality control of noise monitoring and PAMS reports, and analysis of acoustic data for submission to clients and regulatory bodies, where required
- Advise on country specific legislation regarding marine acoustic mitigation measures during seismic and other marine activities
- Prepare (or supervising the generation of) risk assessments and procedures in relation to Acoustics Team projects
- Arrange and provide technical support for field jobs on both GSML and third-party vessels, taking into account the skills of the available personnel and the requirements of the job
- Assist in mobilisation of vessels, help with practical queries and ensure the mobilisation is carried out
- Assist Senior acoustic personnel in hardware and software development
You can move ahead as a Marine Acoustic Technician if you have:
- A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Marine Mammal Science or a Acoustic related degree or academic course.
- Experience of acoustic field projects and data analysis, including use of PAMS, CPODs, or any other underwater noise monitoring equipment.
- Experience with analysing acoustic data using MATLAB or Raven
- Some marine survey experience or working on vessels
- A good command of written and spoken English
- You’re willing to travel (within Europe, Middle East, Far East) on a fairly regular basis
