Instrument Engineer for Oil & Gas Project (Canada)

Job Description

As Instrument Engineer, you will be providing technical input into ensuring the reliability of equipment, within your area of responsibility, is maintained including input into RAM, Criticality, safety integrity, integrity management and FMECA studies, and maintenance strategies within a team environment.

THE CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE AND WORK IN THE CANADA.
Flexibility and willingness to travel as well as readiness for onshore/offshore assignments at short notice locally and globally for periods would be required.

The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. In addition, you:
Hold a Completion Certificate of Red Seal Inter-Provincial or Alberta Proficiency apprenticeship or equivalent with two to five years of experience as a maintenance technician of plant equipment.
Have a minimum of 5 years of proven experience in the energy/oil & gas industry as an Instrumentation Discipline Engineer.
Have previous experience in the design, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the following:
Field instrumentation (Pressure, Flow, Level, Temperature, control/measurement etc.)
Program logic controllers (PLC),
Distributed control system (DCS),
Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA),
Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
ESD Systems (ESD),
Fire & Gas systems
Understanding and knowledge of CMMS equipment hierarchy.
Planning experience specific to operations/maintenance, materials, work orders, and SOPs
Setting up proactive practices and predictive, preventative maintenance programs.
Fully familiar with FMEA (failure mode effects analysis), RCA (root cause analysis), RCM (reliability-centred maintenance) and RBI (risk-based inspection) practices.
Knowledge of Safety integrity level (SIL) assessments and Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF).
Understanding and knowledge of oil and gas international/national codes, standards of practice and legislation including knowledge of international standards such as RBI and ASME / API.
Performance Standards
Excellent computer literacy in Microsoft packages and familiarity with software-based maintenance systems, i.e. SAP, and MAXIMO.

Desirable Skills:
Basic understanding of mechanical reliability engineering.
Knowledge of instrument commissioning and pre-commissioning.
Experience in using project management tools to ensure jobs are delivered to client standards.
Previous experience in training graduate engineers.
