Chief Mate

TX, United States

The Chief Mate is the Master’s second in command and works with other departments to ensure vessel, marine, navigational, safety and emergency systems are functional and in apparent good working order. The Chief Mate oversees DP and Marine operations in the absence of the Master and serves as On-Scene Commander during emergencies.

STCW 95 Chief Mate License 95 II / 2, with valid flag state endorsement.
Valid Nautical Institute unlimited DP Certificate, and other regulatory and non‐regulatory courses.
Knowledge of all technical calculations required for the safe operation of the marine aspect of the vessel.
Capable of performing emergency procedures including evacuations, fire drills, and other emergencies.
Valid STWC Ship Security Officer’s Certificate.

One year of experience as Chief Mate or two years of experience as Senior DPO on drilling rigs.
Possesses good conflict resolution skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills, excellent team work and organizational skills and diplomatically handles confrontation.
Completion of all training and certification requirements for Chief Mate as described in the training matrix.
